Women are catching up

Almost 50% of Australian investors are now women. That was not the case 20 years ago. Women have made great strides in their investment journey, even when they generally earn less than men.

As so many women are single, either never married or divorced, long term security is top of mind as a man is no longer a financial plan. Women are proving to be well researched investors, playing the long game as they are not afraid of a long term commitment. Their male counterpart on the other hand tend to take more risks, armed with less research.

When purchasing real estate investments, 36% of women under 35 have invested in comparison to over 69% of women over 35 years of age. It would seem that as women get older they are more likely to invest in property. Financial security in retirement is a key driver.
